Video Formats

It is a form in which the computer can store a video file in. To decrease the size of a file, the video can often be compressed. For example, .mov is a video format created by Apple in order to play their multimedia content- it can also be viewed on Windows computers using Apple's program call QuickTime. Likewise, the file extension .avi was created by Microsoft which enables WIndows to play multimedia files.

Streaming

Streaming lets the presenting of a file in real-time without having the user download it. The application receiving the data must be able to amass the data the streamer is sending quickly enough in order for the data to appear smoothly. If it is received quicker than needed, then that excess data will be saved to the buffer - this will prevent lag by loading when the transmission slows or stops. YouTube would be an example as you are viewing a multimedia file. Spotify would be an example too, as audio is being transmitted to your device. Gamers often stream on a platform called Twitch and hitbox which is a streaming media service. They are able to broadcast themselves playing to a big audience through these platforms.

File Compression

File compression is when a file is made smaller than its original size in order to allow quicker and easier file transmission, as well as the primary purpose of taking up less space on a disk. For example, some files can be zipped (this can be done to one, or multiple files). This zipped file will be of lesser size than the original files that are being zipped up. However, to use them, they would need to be 'unzipped'. Programs such as WinZip allow you to do this. Also some programs like handbrake compress the video files so it takes up less memory.

Aspect Ratios: 4:3, 16:9
Aspect ratio describes the relationship between the height and width of an image/video/frame in proportion to one another. For example, in aspect ratio 16:9, the width is almost double the height. In 4:3, the height and width are almost the same. The 16:9 ration is often used for movies as consumers like bigger, greater screens. The aspect ratio 4:3 was used however, to make older movies and makes the film more square with black bars on the side.

Frame Rates

A moving image is made up of many still images. The frame rate is the frequency these frames appear at. It is measured in FPS (Frames per Second) so the lower the frames the lower the quality of the video and becomes more choppy after 24 fps, after 60fps it becomes more life like and higher quality.

                                                               Evaluation

Evaluating my final video; there are certain things that I think I could do better and that I could improve on; for example, not to leave editing my video so last minute.

What I thought was good:

I made various introductions to my video profile showing off different editing styles and also structuring my video. I personally liked the colour correction as it levelled out the various colours and made it look more professional. I also like my music choice as it gives out chill vibes and has no speech so the audience focuses more on my voice. I used a variety of shots and angles making the video look more interesting ranging from long shots to extreme close-ups. In the editing I also synced the transitions with the music to make the edit flow better and look more aesthetically pleasing.

What I thought needs improving:

However, my audio was a bit too heavy on reverb as I did not know the settings too well as its my first time using it; I used reverb as the original audio quality was quite bad and it had a lot of background noise in it.
Also some of the shots that I took were not Stable-I could have used a tripod to make it more stable. Some of the shots were badly lit and noise detected on the dark parts of the video.
One thing I would like to change in my filming is the interview as I did not check the footage until after I recorded; the recording was data glitched and showed a lot of tear in the video and ruined the quality of me and also the green screen, that’s why u can see a green glow around me on the interview part of my video; This also leads to another thing I would not do in future projects, that is to not leave things so last minute and rush everything as it ruins the whole quality of my work. I know I can do better but I rushed it and edited everything in one day; If I had more time the video would be up to standards and higher quality in structure and better transitions.

I changed some things from my script and shot list and improvised as I didn’t like what it looked like on screen.

Conclusion:

Overall I still like the outcome of my video as everything pretty much flows together but In future I should give me self more time and not rush things last minute as I know I can come out with a better quality video. Also I would want to get a camera and record things myself and not rely on other people as it did not give me the freedom of where to go and shoot.

What does ‘copyright, ‘mean?

Copyright is a right given to the owner of certain content (literary, artistic or musical) allowing them to print, publish, perform, film and record it

Examples of copyright that may be subjected in my video are music, imagery and long video clips.

Two websites that I know of that give copyright free music would be; premiumbeat.com and soundcloud. Also some websites that give copyright free images are istockphoto.com and pixabay.com and a website that gives a low fee price is yayimages.com.

A location release form is used when you need to use someone else’s property for example, the college’s cameras. It is a contract that the owner asks the person to sign. If the requirements aren’t met the owner has the right to sue and get their money back.

Anyone who contributes to the project needs to sign a contributor release form asserting that they allow the information they provide to be used. This is required in order to ensure all information is used with agreement and that both the contributor and the person in charge of the project are pleased.
